Both my son and daughter have Mk6 Fiestas which have been great little cars for them. My daughters had a couple of coolant leaks, (radiator and plastic connection onto block), and my son's needed a new ignition module! I'm not so keen on the KA, I've heard they rust, but I like the fact there is a bit more metal around them with the Fiesta.Originally posted by wetandwindy2 View Posthi am thinking of getting a cheap runner for my daughter as wants to learn to drive and the galaxy as well as being an auto is maybe to big for her as well as insurance whats a ford ka like that should be user friendly enough for her either that or a fiesta

thanks for the input guys yeah i was kind of swing toward a fiesta but i suppose its all down to the insurance which will rip me of silly any pointers in that direction,am i better having her as main driver or me as main seeing as she is learning or does that not make any difference nowadays ,remember years ago all my RSs were insured in my fathers name cheap as chips then

Start on there own insurance ,the no claims makes a difference even after one year (also legally the correct way). If you and your other half have full license and minimal convictions put yourselves on too as named drivers ,all reduces the premium ,your a better risk as a family than a single person assuming your all at the same address.
Dont forget premium often rises after they pass ,should inform insurer ,as higher risk without you sitting next to them !
Do a few online quotes on different cars ,we found the Corsa C 1.2 sxi was quite a low group.
Me and the wife are still on both our kids insurance , now 21 & 25 still at home ,gives me more options on using cars at the weekend
as my company car I don't use privately to save the extortionate tax.
