Sadly this is a real concern of mine, the LEZ has helped reduce some emissions but I wonder when every older car will be off the road too. Historic taxed Vehicles are exempt from the LEZ charges though.

I always thought bumper cars are the way ahead for both emissions and congestion ! Hang loads of chicken wire from the street lamps make the roads metal and away everyone goes after the bell is sounded.... In an instant no road rage, whiplash claims companies, fit loads in the same space....Pumping Dj's and Pikey's can earn a living that pays tax too. What's not to like ?

Believe it or not they are planning to ban alot newer cars from Central London, they want to ban any petrol cars older than 2005 and any diesel cars older than 2014 (yes you read that right)

Motorists could soon be banned from driving through the centre of the capital - and the Ultra Low Emissions Zone could spread further, potentially causing issues for millions

Also a similar ban that happened in 2012 made historic vehicles (those built before 1973) exempt from the ban.
With the low emissions zone coming into force on 3 January, older diesel vehicles will have to undergo an expensive conversion – or stay away from the streets of London

I hate this ban culture we have in the UK now, a group of people get together and choose to ban something because they don't like it or don't get it and think they are doing it for the greater good, oh and yes Boris is completely mad.

            Help

I understand the lag thing but my car was registered 1/1/1975 but I dont know the build date. How do I get this info'? I am an A.V.O.Member

Cheers, It seems good news for many though, and allows the post 1973 cars to catch up in desirability!

Yes I hate this ban culture too, it has all gone very rediculous now! Something many seem to accept now, as many consider it as normal as they have grown up with it! Global warming was started by one of those small groups I believe!

What does annoy me is that there will be a number of Mk 2's entering the freebee road tax zone very soon, with shells that were built in say 1980 and with logs books that might show a registratiom of something entirely different, like 1975! Fake Free Tax......so how fair is that?

It was nothing sinister as far as Ford were concerned though, just showing the rally boys that they were able to buy new Mk2 shells to reshell their clapped out mk1 rally cars, but it might have given the bad boys some ideas I would think! Sadly out of something good there can often turn out something bad!
