You're lucky, I pay E660 year for the Qashqai - that's around 550 pound a year, plus a yearly "luxury" tax of 440 Euro. So that's E 1,100/year before insurance and without turning a wheel!

              So stop moaning you lot....

To be fair, that's what people should be paying for all those bloody Chelsea tractors and dirty filthy diesel sheite boxes

Or we can be come a farmer ,, do they pay road tax on tractors or are they just to trundle along and hold everyone up, plus the tax free desiel

I say abolish road tax and stick a levy on fuel then its pay as you go ,,, much fairer

It might sound fairer, but the government will make it so they get more money out of the majority of us, so most of us will be worse off!

£123 for 6 months, I do less than a 1000 miles... BARGAIN! lol

2bf I claim it back as an expense in my tax as im self employed but it clearly would be great to see it free or at least reduced for show cars, classic insurance policies, social domestic and pleasure minus commuting policies or cars on limited mileage policies... but with the classic scene as big as it is and people willing to pay up to use their cars, I cant see it changing anytime soon!

Is it really worth trying to collect TAX from the classic car owners - I think not. It should be free!!!
I totally agree with this and it's a point i've often made in the past, the DVLA must also waste a huge amount of time dealing with enquiries from people on the cut of date for historic tax and how can they tell when their car was manufactured to qualify for the free road tax etc, far easier to unfreeze rolling tax exemption at 25 years old (should be on registration date of vehicle not manufacturing date to make it simple).

If this can't be done then at the very least there should be a historic tax class for all vehicles over 25 years say £30 a year.

My MKII Escort 1300 L is £140 a year I wouldn't mind a 1600 MKII but that would cost £225 a year I do less the 1000 miles per year in the Escort so it's not worth me paying out all that tax on a 1600cc.

(forgot to add in above post)

A problem we have is that pretty much nobody in politics from any party understands the classic car scene, and when applying motoring policies forget completely about it.

I think there should be a limited milage tax for vehicles over 20 years old that are on a limited milage policy of say 3000 miles a year. They have the technology to check your MOT mileage and your insurance policy before sending out the tax reminder and a tax of 25% of the normal rate would be better for all vehicle's and this includes ones that are now free which doesn't make any sense to me why there is a cut off age.

Every vehicle should pay something until the road fund license is abolished
