The early Red is almost certainly Sunset. If you want that, you need to be aware that there are two shades, the earliest was slightly more orange than the later one. You can only tell when you get two side by side !.
Very early AVO cars only came in three colours, Ermine, Sunset and Maize.

Sunset does not ring right with me somehow, I don't remember an early Mk1 in Sunset! One chart I've found says that Dragoon Red is shown as 1965-1970 and Sunset is 1971-1976 which confirms my thought!Originally posted by Tony B. View PostThe early Red is almost certainly Sunset. Yes I remember plenty of Mk2 Cortinas, Mk1 prefacelift Capris in Dragoon red! Going by the age of your Mex, Sunset appears to be correct, but production ended for the twin cams in 1970? and sunset was introduced in 1971, so that means no twincams were built in Sunset, unless anybody definately knows different! Dragoon red was quite dull and I'm sure many escorts were eventually resprayed in Sunset because it was a very attractive new red!Originally posted by Tony B. View PostTim, I was referring to the red Twin Cams, the two that I know of are Sunset. You are probably right about Dragoon Red, lots of Cortinas in that colour. The Mex in my sig is Sunset.
