  • 13" or 15" wheels

    guys,
about to make a large purchase on new wheels, however do i go 13" or 15".
Theory says that the 15" will make the car a little quicker, and the amount of rubber should be more easilly available in different sizes and compounds (and possibly price).
Also, bigger brakes will be possible

Do 15" look that much difference on a Mk2 though.

wheels will be minilite x 7" width.

    any views / experience welcome

Surely will make it slower not quicker :cyclops: But depends on tyre size...and overall rolling radius...

What tyre size you going from and too...

    I had 195 40 15's on mine - was very good......

15's make it handle very well....IMHO much better than the 13x7's

But i guess that depends on your driving style....

            185 60 13 = 5.69 rolling radius...

            195 40 15 = 5.54 rolling radius

So the 15's will make it quicker than a stand rim...

            205 50 13 = 5.52 rolling radius.

Ml's in a 7" rim will allow 300mm discs with AP 4 pots....

13's IMO Graham. Would go for the Compomotive ML in 7" as they look more aggressive as per Matin C's and Dave G's

                        Hi Graham,

if you don't worry about that "period" look, then go for 15 inch rims especially if you are focussing on trackdays. Personally I prefer 13 inch Minilites on a Mk2 just suits the car better, feels more right.

15" will make her go faster, but will 13" not accelerate faster as they are easier to turn? Also spin up and go sideways easier and I think look better.

I like the look of those Mini on a track car like that, not on a std car though
