The 2 door is considered stronger for rallying, so that makes them more desirable from the start. Nicer looking rear side windows help too!

But the mk2 4 door was Homologated, with 1100, 1300 and 1600 pushrod engines.
But all the RS's were homologated as 2 doors only.sigpicComment

Agree. A standard 1600 sport is a better car than a standard 1600 Mexico.
Mk1 1600??? RS1600 & TC.
Personally don't like 4 doors as I was always bought up with RS's. I can certainly admire a well done one though with a proper period engine & none of the modern crap.Comment

Demand sets the price of anything.
2 doors are more desirable and in demand than 4 doors.
If the general perception was that 4 doors were "better" then they would demand a higher price than a 2 door.

4 doors suck hence they cost less . They should use them for racing though especially rallying seeing as they smash them up anyway . Leaves the all 2 doors for proper car folk too look after then .
