need a new work car

Well now the Sportage is buggered I need a new car , the Kia was a good car but a bit thirsty for the mileage I do ,,30mpg,,

So need ideas for a 4x4 with a good mpg ot a decent estate which will naturally have a much better mpg

my 163 awd kuga gives just over 40mpg average, if you don't really need awd the 2wd gives 5 or 6 more. Nice driving car im very happy with mine.

I sort of agree with Gaz on this apart from I would say a old 2nd shape Subaru Forester, they are only 25-28 to the gallon though on a run. Serviced properly they take the miles okay (2L), and its cheap enough to be disposable. They also will go anywhere a proper 4x4 will go apart from ground clearance of course.

If its just a work wagon then why pay loads of money for something that is going to loose loads over a short period of time, unless you can lose it in company tax etc.

Do you need proper big 4x4 i.e. traction off road and lots of clearance, then nothing is going to match a Land Rover or Toyota Land Cruiser neither of them are going to get 30mpg though and the Land Rover will go wrong at some point.

What I need is something with good mpg,,,,,,,good ground clearance and less than 5 year old ,,, some on the site I visit I need to drive through 12 inch of shite plus on the other hand I drive 30 t0 35k per year site to site on M ways

A small garage near us has just started to sell the new Dacia Duster 4X4 you can get a brand new one for £9k I think not sure on MPG around 40 ? but all the local farmers love them as a work horse not to good on refinements though .
