Well I think I have been about the Mk2/ RSOC/ Old Skool scene for over 10 years, so not as "dyed in the wool" as some of the auld farts (registrars/bufty's/RSOC officials........... ).
I have always found people open, honest and approachable if they know that your are here and involved to make a contribution and genuine enthusiast.
But on the other hand, I would refer not to a clique, but senior (maybe not the correct phrase, Oggie, Robbo, GJ, Martin, Ruddy, Custom, Frosty, to name a few of the close to retiring group..... ) members who have become a bit more guarded into people they pass information onto.
This is the result of being stung/used/stitched up to by "enthusiasts" making 4 - 5 figure profits on cars in a matter of weeks after senior members assisted them in the locating desireable cars for a 'good' price after promises of them going to be cherished.
Just my tupence worth, but I have the fire extinguisher at the ready for when I am shot down in flames..
