    i never knew there was a difference in the RS1800's..... whats the difference so lads?????? I was told on saturday that a lad in N.I. has 3 of the bloody things......He owns the red one that was on the cover of Classic Ford donkeys ago & has another 2..... maybe Brian can confirm that??????

      Theres 3 types of RS1800 you have the early BBAT cars which were Escort sport shells. They are the only ones that have RS1800 stamped on the colour coded plate N and P registrations.

      Then there are the Saarlouis built cars GCAT based on the Mexico shells they are P and R registrations. Many of these cars are custom as in NOV 1976 that option was dropped from the price lists.

      The last are the S and T registrations these again are GCAT based on the Mexico shells. The difference is that the last fifty of these came with an H.R.E prefix engine (HOLBAY RACING ENGINES). which meant a 12 bolt steel narrow journal crankshaft, Narrow journal rods, and 12 bolt flywheel.

      The earlier engines i believe were built by BRIAN HART LTD.
