Are you GENUINELY a MK1 or MK2 RS Enthusiast or are you into "The Scene" for other reasons?? Money etc.

This is a genuine question as another of the long term members has just said they have had enough on here

Usually genuine enthusiasts buy a car then keep it for a long time (Ruddy excepted as he never knows what he wants ) "Some" people though, keep swapping & changing all the time. Why is this???? Surely if you have bought a good car then you would keep it??? More of the long term members have had their cars for a very long time but a few of the newer ones just don't seem to be happy

Personally, I think the scene is dead. (Long live the scene) Lots of owners now having almost zero interest in the cars anymore. (I was like this in 2011 & 2012) Why is this? To me, It all became stale & the fun just wasn't there anymore. I used to look forward to coming on here to talk to good friends & generally have a good laugh. Now though, It is usually pants TBH. Light heartedness & banter usually gets frowned upon by a few who think it should be solely for Escort talk.............Yawn!!!

I may be getting old but, I would love to turn the clocks back to when "The Scene" really was fun.........

What ever happens on this site, or the scene, I will still have my escorts and intend to keep them, I know what I like, it's taken me years to get my cars. I'd like to have more time to drive them, but one day that will happen.

I've seen the scene change many times, what goes around comes around. I do think money has changed things, but it has produced some real good cars.

Still like my Escorts even though I don't have one now I had them constantly for the best part of 25 years, however before its too late it's nice to try something else.

Money is a big factor in people not using their cars but there's also nothing new, no buzz, no new ideas.

Probably succesive shit Summers hasn't helped matters.

I'd like to think it will come back around again in a few years, but it may be down to the younger lads to keep it alive as some of us ain't getting any younger.

Loved watching escorts rallying since i was a kid (40yrs ago!).
Built a mk2 rally car from scratch and love it.
Building a mk1 race car from scratch and am excited.
Will only ever sell them if i fall on hard times or can't get in or out of them anymore!

In summary I'm here for the long term and although i may never be one of the 'original gang' on here i hope to use the cars more and in so doing get to know more 'escort minded' people along the way.

I enjoy visiting this forum and often chuckle at some of the banter although there does seem to be more negative comments of late, be it about other members, or there cars. Hopefully this is just a phase which will soon blow over

Bet when you started Kev you didn't just drive to a show, park in a field and sit behind your car. Bet you and your mates hooned all over the place, attended motorsport events, hooned to the pub, hooned down the lanes, got in each others garages (or more than likely driveways/roadsides) and got your hands dirty.

One of the main reasons I didn't use my car much for 10 years was I just don't like the "scene" To get excited about the odd big drive out (Lakes, Wales, Scotland etc.... All those roads are open all year ) Then to spend the rest of the year sat in a carcoon and slowly driven into a field and then sit on a deck chair behind your car simply does nothing for me.

I've done 2500 FAST miles this summer, decided I don't give a $hit about how much it's worth and got out a used the car (i dont worry about my 25k everyday car) Only attended one show, (RSOC Cornwall) the rest hooning around to and from friend and motorsport events and loved every mile.

If the current scene is dying then RIP, long live a scene where people don't give a $hit about values and get out and drive!!

I will have my mk1 RS2000 OIR170 for 25 years on 25 November 2013, I will keep it for another 25 years hopefully. The clock went over 250000 miles during this summer. Hope to keep putting up the miles for as long as I can drive it. Oh by the way I have also strayed a little recently, but I always fancied a HSR. Paul

That's the good news..

The bad news is that I am almost obsessed with keeping it in the same condition as the day it was finished.

I fear driving it for in case some dozy t**** bumps it.

I fear parking it up in case some low life nicks it.

I fear getting it wet in case it suddenly turns into a pile of rust.

Its bought,its done,its paid for, but the thrill was in the chase and the restoration.

I had these cars as a kid and really loved them then as I do now.

Its bears heavily on mind the lack of use though...

shame people think of clubs spoiling it for the majority, don't confess to running one or being a know all but try to help out for best, sorry steven.

without clubs there would be fewer shows for us to enjoy, its about the cars which will always be about after weve gone...one hopes.
