Aye Martin, does that mean I might fancy a change if my RS goes in it?

You must apply by post if you’re recently registered as the keeper or not yet registered.

Yep, first two times I tried after getting the V5 back it accepted my application online and emailed me a note saying 'sorn'd from' , however, when I checked its status on the DVLA website it was still down as unlicensed.

Today when I did it again it accepted the SORN and changed its status from unlicensed to SORN'd, obviously if your gonna do it online you need to wait a few weeks/months.

            BUT (I win - lol)

Make a SORN only if the tax disc for your vehicle runs out on or after 31 January 1998.
Don't those 2 things contradict each other Dave?

DVLA don't make it very easy to understand things. I tried to SORN mine online yesterday, put the reg number in, then had to dig out the V5 to get a reference number, then find out if it's taxed you can't do it online and have to use a form to claim the tax back. Why couldn't they say at the start before you waste time. Pricks.
