There is a high security risk on some of the VBulletin versions.
There are now "how to hack" VBulletin instructions on youtube and around the net.
There are also league tables on the net that these sad scumbags frequent.
I had my own VB forum hacked last month which took me the best part of a day to sort out because I had missed the latest security release!
I see this forum is still using 3.7 which is probably safe as the hackers will be targeting the latest versions

He advised ages ago to stick with ver 3 and not to upgrade to ver 4
Hacking is not just a security risk to any forums it is also a pain in the RS'e if any data is lost
Any new members to the site will realise I take as many steps as possible to stop spammers and dodgy user accounts - it is a small price I pay to hopefully ensure all on here's enjoyment is not put at risk

It's a real pain, our site has been dogged with spam and hackers for the last year and we've had to disable new registrations as we were getting thousands a day
As has been said, why do they do it? Just because they have nothing better to do and because they can?
