  • Datatag your cars

With the recent stolen cars and the agonizing thought of it disappearing for ever, being broken up into spares, I don't see many people mention if they have used a product called Datatag.

This product comes with micro dots in a fluid that you paint on all parts and is invisible until you introduce a UV light. You also get a transponder in a syringe that you inject into sponge or your dash.
Datatag is compulsory on my jet ski to get insurance but I can't see many people use it or mention it on cars.

I've just been on there web site and they list bikes, cars anything you want really. I know it won't stop thieving scum, but if we all mark our cars, then we can at least try and fight this plague.

You lot really do live in the past ! LOL.
Datatagging has almost become 'de riguer' in the biking community - it isn't mandatory but well recommended. Probably been around for 20+ years so its well proven. Won't stop serious breaker type thief but will possibly deter the opportunist!

I had it on my Brian James Race Shuttle. It is also recommended for caravans and trailers.

The Police have the equipment to check the identity of vehicles and are known to go round Pikey sites checking their caravans to see if they are stolen.
              Cheers

The other option is Smart Water does the same thing. I have always used both on my motor bikes for years now, I'm surprised these car aren't fitted with Tracker though!

Excellent idea Tim, as mentioned above common place on bikes which tend to get broken down to parts and a lot of offices use it for IT hardware. Even the good old UV pen with your post code and a phone number may be the difference in getting your car or most of it back versus never seen again. Thieving scum bags...

I am not going to be too exact here and say what I have done with my stuff, but, things like, punch the reg number into obscure bits of the shell whilst restoring (and make a note for yourself so you don't forget). Little bits of weld that should not be there under a wing etc so you can spot your shell with a quick feel under an arch. Hide tags where you can only see them with a mirror.
If you can identify your own shell at a show or where ever, the cops show up and you tell 'em where the hidden stuff is, you must be on a winner.
I, fortunately, have not had anything stolen, but by god, Mr Angry would seem like Mr Poofter compared to the rage I would be in. I would be wanting it back.

I used Datatag on all my motorbikes, good idea in principal, but if you have agreed insurance, they may not pay out as parts of it are found and returned.

I've left a sentimental note in the car in case anything happens to me, sorry to be morbid but Frosty reminded me it was in there.
