  • how much is it worth

got the bug for a mk2 rs2000 so have a friend of a friend who has a part restored midnight blue v plate.Wot i would like info on is how much is it worth paying for spec as follows

    Bodywork,
bare metal strip, new arches, door skins, wings, comes with spare doors and bonnet.

    Engine,
hasnt turned a crank for 5yrs but was rebuilt then runner worked head,cam,twin45s. havent heard it run as yet but am assured it is a sweet runner.

    interior,
has all parts exept front and rear seats and carpet.

although the car needs a lot of work being in the body repair game and having a good friend with his own garage repair the costs for work needed can be kept to a minimum, just would like to know wot a realistic price is for the old girl.

    Steve,

You don't say if the shell has been painted or not. Assuming it has then as long as it is as solid as you say, I would pay between £1500-£1800 and bank on spending another £300-£400 to find a reasonable set of seats. There are one or two unfinished projects in Classicford this month, for instance a Signal Green car in York for £1800 that only needs an exhaust & back seat or a signal yellow car in Stoke with the engine out for £1300.

By the sounds of it, with a few weeks work you would then have a car worth somewhere around £3k.

If it's not painted, knock at least £600-£700 off that initial purchase figure however, as I am sure you realise, a good paint job will cost more than that.

If Steve isn't interested in the front seats, I might be....

I'm looking for a mint pair of chocolate brown fishnets for my new car - must be spotless though. I will pay good money for the right seats.
