I find most people who comment about TR's have neither been in a good one or weren't even born when they were available at the dealers.
I can comment cos I've had a dozen Escorts and five TR7's
The shell of a TR7 is twice as strong as an Escort, the dash and heating are far superior and over a long distance the TR is the comfiest , did I mention they were designed to run on unleaded from day one in 1975 and had a 5 speed box as an option from 1975 but standard from 1980.
Yes they rust, yes they break down but so do Escorts
A TR7 is a TR7, an RS is an RS .....or a pop or a GL or a ?...
I like a sorted tr7 with works arches and v8 but draw the line at soft tops .

Oh dear!!!,I have a secret past regarding tr7 soft tops!!!,I used to go to my first proper job when I was 17 in a.................blue tr7 soft top.the guy who was a lot older than me used to take us to work in it!!!!!..I thought it was quite cool!!!!!..,but I must admit,he did pull some pussy in it!!!!..I was tempted to buy one myself,but my brother put me right and said"get yourself a escort,it's much more fun"!!!!!...did I do the right thing then at 17 years old???.I must admit again Ruddy,it did drive really well!!!!..it's just that Scottish trim put me off....he had that tr7 from new aswell!!!..he was tempted to drop a v8 in it,but he couldn't do it!!!..I think it was a W or X reg!!!..Happy days!!!...

One of my favourites is this early 76 German brochure, the car survives and is a rally rep in Devon
Now my car was originally finished in a colour called Topaz and was supplied to the press dept, Topaz is not a UK colour and was dropped in 75, the picture below is a Topaz car, could be mine but there were 2 or 3 Topaz press cars.
back in 1994 me and my old man bought a lotus cortina mk1 for £4k of a bloke who wanted to sell it (body restored just needed re-assembly and paint)so he could buy a TR7 convertable. we still laugh about it today.
