A large amount of our customers kids go to private schools, just the other day I was talking to a chap who said it costs him £30k a year each child, and he has 4 children
My sister went to a private convent school in the late 80's, a scandal happened and she was involved, the News of the World got hold of the story too. My mom immediately took her out and sent her to the local comprehensive.
She's now a corporate lawyer for GE.
I don't have a problem with private schools, but it's from experience I'd never send any of my kids to one or advise any future Grand kids I may have to go. It's the people they will mix with.
There is one thing private schools do not teach their pupils........Manners.

For what is worth. My other half is a teacher (Maths) in a local comprehensive. She is a big believer in whatever school private or state it needs the head and the senior management to maintain discipline down to the smallest details.
The only thing that wins over Private is they are not in the league tables so they can tech GCSE's, they have smaller classes and have the time to teach and expand on subjects and not become exam machines. The state is only worried about pass rates and so are parents looking at local schools.
Private strangely you do not need to be a qualified teacher to teach. Not saying thats a bad thing, as sadly some state school teachers are not up to much and get passed around. A private school does not give an automatic guarantee, a good value for money and a well run education establishment.
Just my view not that it really helpsSteve

Well I was a Same as a lot of you guys with "it doesn't matter which school they go too and if there bright it will shine thru.
Our secondary school system is strange and theres only 2 like it in our area (the other been Skipton) .When they get to the last year of primary school they sit a exam called the 11+ and the "Shall we say brighter kids" go to the grammar school and the rest go to the academy across the road.
It's been like this years and before any one shoots me down, Me and the wife both went to the academy side.
Well both my two lads passed the exam (clever milkman I think )
Usually 4/5 kids from a class of 30+Pass, so as you can guess there split from there friends from junior school that they have made since starting school.
But the difference in the kids in a very very short space of time is unreal !
They still have friends and cousions that go to the other school but the gap in ability is hard to grasp until you hear them interact with each other,
So I'm now a firm believer in If they are in the right Enviroment they will flourish
and flourish at a very enhanced rate.
When I was at school there was a bit of the Them and us !! And the snob sort of attitude but as any one who has met Tom will tell you it's not true :

I went to a mixed one , very good for sports , you make friends for life , you have to stand on your own two feet from the age of 12 , you ( back 20 years ago ) got the shite kicked out of you from older guys until you toughen up ! Would I put any of my 5 kids ............. No ...... If a kid wants to get on in life he or she will in most schools with family support , I think family's should be together as much as possible , the hardest thing for me , even to this day I was sent but my Bro and SIS stayed at home , but i was a little nightmare !! Lol
I also seen it break some kids
And at my time it was mostly kids from the army family's etcsigpic
