  • What is this and is it worth restoring

    Hi guys,

Can anybody shed some light here on what I have? Was offered this today, engine still kicks over and from what I can see its mostly complete. I don't mind taking on a resto or maybe even making a cafe style racer but I need to know what I have and of course potential issues with this model.

    Cheers

I believe it is a CB350. Generally reliable (if anything from the late 60's early 70's can be described thus!) A café racer styled one was used in the film - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! Original parts are gonna be hard to find - your think Ford stuff is hard!

The capacity of the engine is cast into the cylinder at the front of the motor. (if they did the same as with the model that followed)
As said it could be a 350, or it could also be a 250. I am almost certain that the model (either engine size) is a K4.
I did own a G5 thirty years ago, but never one identical to this, which is why I can't be absolutely certain.
The K4 has a much better reputation than the later bikes, and they are a very sought after classic racing bike in 350cc form. With that in mind, I would recon that the racing boys will have a source of spares, and of course they will junk or sell off all the heavy standard parts, which might make them easy/easier to come by.

As an after thought, the engine number probably begins CB250 or CB350, again later ones did. If it also has a K in it, there is your answer

I suspect that you have not had a G5 then.

TBH not touched it since and if the truth be told I don't have time to look at it right now as the new project escort takes priority. In saying that I'm gonna make room at home stick it in a corner and will get round to it "sometime" :-)

Is it a Honda Benly 150 twin ?
My cousin who lived in Powell River Canada has one in his garage in far better condition than that !
                        Motorbikes are making good money
I have just sold my Yamaha 175 Enduro 1978 model unrestored for well over 1K ,it had only 14k on clock and have had it for over 30 years

No, much older 1972ish. As I said, to give its full title, either CB250K4 or CB350K4
