As anyone who has looked in my restoration posts about my mex will know its in a million bits and being worked on. ive always had it insured just incase.
ive been using aon/footman james for insurance on all my classics and last year they gave me a laid up policy for the mex while im working on it.
the policy was up for renewal and they wanted to know about modifications to the car due to the new underwriters etc....well after a phone call and telling them everything ( including me asking why they want to know this even if the car is a shell with none of the modifications fitted ) I got the paper work through this morning and while looking at the details I noticed it says the vehicle is NOT covered while under restoration and has bits removed and if its not locked ( whats the point in locking it if it has no windows ) not very happy about this phoned them up and asked why I was sold this policy last year when I would have said the exact same things and she said I don't know....so that's was that I said thanks hung up.
I then had a quick look on here for other companies that might cover me.
I tried hagertys as they had plenty of good words spoken on here about them insurance but they wont cover it with the mods that it had.
they did give me a number for a company called need to insure, im waiting for them to phone me back just now....
has anyone else had this type of problem and if you guys do have a laid up/restoration policy id be digging out the paper work and checking it if I were you!!
