    60 YEARS AGO


    1953 Monte Carlo Rally
    Dutchman Maurice Gatsonides is outright winner driving a Ford Zephyr.
    Later he invented the ‘Gatso’ speed camera primarily to check speed over rally stages. It would be later used by police forces all around the world.

    50 YEARS AGO


    1963 World Record Attempt, Miramas Circuit, France
    A Ford Taurus 12M covered 300,000Kms in 142 days and set 107 world records.


    40 YEARS AGO


    1973 Scottish Rally – Hannu Mikkola in an RS1600 is outright winner.
    First 10 finishing places are all Ford RS Escorts.

    John Taylor in a Ford Escort RS 1600 wins the ‘drivers championship’

    1973 New Zealand Rally
    1st Place for Hannu Mikkola driving a Ford Escort RS1600

    Outright victory to Markko Martin / Michael Park with the Ford Focus RS WRC

                1973 to 81 1,000 Lakes Rally, Finland - 5 wins for Escort RS1600/1800 -73, 74, 76, 77 & 81.

                It would have been an Escort RS in 1981, not a RS1800 and was most likely an Escort RS in 1977 too.
