  • Adrian Flux,a cautionary tale.

Hello,I have had the misfortune to deal with Adrian Flux,In 2011 I first insured my MK2 RS2000 with them,i told them about the mods that the car had(dellortos,7x13 alloys and more bhp),it was £185 with key cover, breakdown and 3000 mile limit per year.My car has been off the road until may this year getting a few repairs done and one or two more mods done, when I rang A/F,i just wanted a quote as I was going to shop around etc,(Hegarty,Footman James,Heritage). The quote that I got from A/F this year was £192 per year with key cover and breakdown with 5000 mile limit, mint I thought,i told them that the battery had been put in the boot and the car has now been fitted with a 5 speed.Today I got a letter saying that I now owe them another £48 for modifications not listed on the original policy,I rang them to find out what the crack was,to be told because I had put a battery isolator in the boot it was not a ford fitted part and classed as a mod, fair enough I forgot to tell them about the vented front discs,i asked them if the car was stolen or written off would they refuse payment due to me not telling them about the isolator and vented discs, their answer was yes. They even told me that because it has had a new windscreen scuttle grill and heater bubble, that was classed as a modification,in the heat of the argument I said the car has been repainted, their answer was it doesn`t have genuine Ford paint. They said I have 4 fire extinguishers fitted,no I said just one,in hindsight I should have taken a photocopy of the modification form that I filled. Its all to do with anything fitted after it has left the factory.Make sure that you tell them everything you fit and modify, because the legalised thieves will try to have your eyes out.Regards Gixer1000.

That's nothing they charged me £192 for 3000 miles , then 4 weeks later I moved 1/2 mile up the road. A/F said they could no longer insure me at this address and they had to cancel my policy , but they could move me to another provider for £580 . I phoned round and got re covered by A plan using the same provider as A/F for £130 a year . So the address had F all to do with it they are just a bunch or robbing Bastards. Still lost £192 .

moved all mine to rh insurance after flux told me they wanted a valuation report for the car but then they would send that report to thier assesors before agreeing the price. Then they came back and refused saying the creditored valuation was wrong so could only offer book price

Need to deal with Hagerty, mine is booked as a 1300 auto, when they asked me if it was modified, after I said "what do you think" I just listed the mods (pretty much everything), they said OK, thank you, that'll be £116 please.

I said "Thank you" and was off, have been involved with a claim this year and it's only gone up a tenner

Just had my renewal quote from Heritage agreed value of £9k with a certificate of agreement all mods declared ,which were quite a few ,including legal cover and IPT £111 for the year ,however I don't need it as I have sold the car ,as Frosttie states on the other thread they have proven to be genuine following his unfortunate claim.

what makes me laugh is the fact they don`t seen to be bothered about what they do,I said I wanted to speak to a manager, but they don`t take incoming calls,I also pointed out that I am a member on quite a few forums and they would be getting bad press for their antics, fine its up to you was their answer. In this day and age of austerity and competition it doesn`t make very good business sense.Regards gixer1000.

Yep, I am still with Heritage. Proven record. Had all my mods declared to them, 2.2, Tran X etc, etc. No hike in premium and no quibble.

They are an RSOC approved insurer and as good as their word. An RSOC valuation on a car is invaluable come the event of a claim. The valuation is non-contestable if done through the club. BEWARE of self valuations!

And sadly you have proved your point with having a claim and getting your full amount with no hassle

I was going to give Heritage a ring, but for a £7 increase from my original insurance premium in 2011,which I didn`t think was to bad,but alas it has come back to haunt me,I even said balls to you, give me a price of how much I would get back if I cancelled,it worked out about £60,so too cancel after 20 days insurance it would have cost me £130ish.I personally wont recommend them to anyone from now on.Regards Gixer1000.

The best way to sort an insurance quote is to list ALL of your modifications. Very easy to do & a lot less hassle if you ever come to claim.
With Heritage, I added at various times to the car, A 2.2, A Tran X type 9, Ronals, Cibies, Salisbury LSD, Twin 48's, WCXM etc. There was never a hike in the premium for any of these.
You also get an Agreed value certificate (If valued by a club) which states in the event of anything happening, you WILL get the sum of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Some companies say in their small print that in the event of a total loss claim they will pay "UP TO" the agreed value.

An insurance company are only as good as their record of paying out in the unfortunate event of a total loss. Heritage did this to the penny. So, I will stay with them as I have peace of mind.

                            Hope this helps.
