    Lakes Tour 2013

Well not long now! Less than a week to go and the Lakes 13” will be a distant memory, hope you all have your cars sorted and ready. I was gutted to say the least on Friday morning when I heard the news about Retroford; as you all will know they have been sponsors of the Lakes Tour now since it began in 2006. Well the bombshell came to Ben and his team that Unity Media have, for whatever reason, stopped publishing Retroford, along with some sister magazines. This came as a surprise to me and bomb shell to him and the team. I spoke to Ben on Friday morning as soon as I got the news and I must say the guy was mortified, having been the editor for the last 8 years and with all the work and effot he has put in to bring us Retroford each month he has a good right to be mortified. So that’s left us without a feature in a national magazine this year, unless someone takes over the publishing of Retroford. We can only hope this has a happy ending for Ben and the team, and I would just like to thank them for all the help and support they have given the Lakes Tour over the years and wish them all the best for the future.

The Lakes Tour we have planned for you all this year is what it say’s on the tin, a TOUR!! All the cars will be together to the first stop in the morning and will then split off and go on whichever route you chose when you filled in your entry form. We have made it slightly different this year and introduced a quiz on the first part of the tour. All the answers can be found during the run up to the first stop and at the first stop, but you will have to be sharp to find them.
On your return to the hotel after the tour please hand me you filled in quiz sheet and your vote for CAR OF THE TOUR, you will then be given your finishers award.

LAKES TOUR AWARDS: for the following
    Car of the tour
    Sprit of the Tour
    Best MK1 RS Escort
    Best MK2 RS Escort
    Best none RS ford
    Best pre 70’s
    Worst driver on the tour!!

    SIGNING ON

You can sign on from 4.00pm on Friday afternoon and you will receive your Lakes Tour pack and Polo shirts, Jacket and mug or what you ordered on the entry form. Raffle tickets will be for sale throughout the day and the raffle will be drawn in the hotel at the buffet on Saturday evening, along with the awards presentation. You can also sign-on, on Saturday from 7.30am. The tour will start to leave the Hotel grounds from 8.30/10.00am Saturday morning.

Please make sure you have your LAKES TOUR PLATE secured to your car at all times - Your Lakes Tour plate will also gain you entrance to the Cumbria RSOC show on Sunday.

I have a few issues that I would like to make you aware of. I know I do harp on about the driving but I do feel that somebody has to, as some still think it’s a rally - IT’S NOT!! So please be aware as you drive up the motorway and on the tour that the police are aware that the event is taking place; they only have to look at the site as all the info is there in black and white - please watch what you are doing and think about what you are doing. The speed limit in the hotel grounds is 3mph. The tour is 110 miles approximately on both routes.

I have some polo shirts that will be for sale in all sizes this years and last years and a ltd stock of Lakes Tour jackets.
Lakes tour mugs will be for sale along with some other bits and pieces from past Lakes tours.

    CAMPING

On your arrival at the Heaves Hotel this year please check in with myself, Robert or Gordon before you pitch your tent; we have a list of who is camping and we would like to check you in. Please park on the left hand side of the hotel grounds on your arrival. Tents must be down and packed away on Sunday by 8.00am. If you want a pitch where you don’t have to pack your tent away till Sunday afternoon please ask for one!!

Some areas will be taped off this year that I will need for a main display on Sunday.
Showers will be available, and yes they will be HOT!!
There will also be a trailer loo with wash basins with hot running water.
Rubbish bags will be provided when you sign in for camping - please dispose of them in the skip when full.
Please keep the campsite tidy. Please keep BBQ’s off the grass. There has been some new trees planted in the campsite area this year, please do not damage them.
NO OPEN FIRES IN THE HOTEL GROUNDS!!

    SERCURITY
We have a security guard on the gate again this year. He will be checking cars in and out Friday and Saturday night ALL NIGHT.

    FOOD / REFRESMENTS
Food will be available in the hotel on Friday evening and there will be a buffet after the tour on Saturday evening in the hotel.

    PHOTOGRAPHERS

The official photographer is Steve Jones, who has done them for the last few years and has sold them in the Hotel on Sunday at the RSOC show and he will be there again this year.

HERE’S HOPING THE WEATHER IS KIND AS WE HAVE PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO ARRANGING WHAT WE HOPE WILL BE AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND FOR ALL CONCERNED, BUT DON’T FORGET TO BRING AN EXTRA WOOLLEY JUMPER!!

See you all next week end bring the sun

PS I have had a few cancelations this week ring me if you want a space as I do work and only have an iphone for email and as I have pointed out on the BB this week my fingers are too big for the buttons lol 07860832733

All the fun of it i suppose. may have to forgive my lack of polishing having a gearbox and prop shaft fitted might take priority
