Not sure how many on here use Facebook did anyone else see Ben Morley's FB post this morning regarding Retro Ford Magazine

After 8 year Retro Ford will no longer be published

The rights/name etc have been bought by another company but Ben and the RF staff are all being made redundant

It is with a heavy heart that I confirm a few things. Retro Ford Magazine has been my life for the last 8 years and on Wednesday of this week Unity Media told me that they are no longer going to publish it, along with two other titles. Meaning I, and several others, don't have a job. Being honest it has left me heartbroken as It was more than a job, it was my life for a long time.
However, it migh...t not be the end of the magazine as the name and subs rights have been bought by another company. So there is every chance it will carry on in someone else's custody. So if you have a subscription, don't panic.
The magazine industry in general is struggling due to advertising revenue across the board being down, along with sales. Sadly, I think more companies will be closing mags in due course - so go and buy magazines again!!!
In my time at the mag, I lost people that I thought were friends, I met a lot of amazing people and made some great friends along the way too. I met by beautiful wife and of course this in turn resulted in my perfect little girl.
From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone who has sent me messages wishing me well and all of the great people I've had a laugh with along the way. It really does mean a lot. As for what's next I have no idea, I just need to get my head straight. As I've been told: as one door closes, another opens...

At least they could spell! Classic Ford is constantly littered with typos - I think they get their kids to type-up the stories!

a real shame the fellas from retro ford made the effort to come over to shows in Ireland. There seemed to be more staff cars on the go too covering all angles from track cars to daily drivers

That's sad news, not just for the subscribers but mostly for the staff.. Let's hope they all get picked up by the new company

I've known Ben for years, what a shame

As he says he put his heart and soul into it from the very beginning and has a genuine love of all things automotive.

I don't think this is unusual in the publishing industry so hopefully things will come good

I sincerely hope things work out and the mag gets a new lease of life under new ownership.


Good luck Ben I'm sure no matter what happens you'll come through bigger and stronger.

Sad time's I have every copy and enjoy going back looking at all those fantastic cars. The internet has played a massive part in the deminish of paper's and magazine's, sad for Ben and the staff.

indeed gaz, sorry to say i stopped buying the mags a few years ago,
the cars always show up on forums etc. also got fed up seeing the same adverts and i know this pays for the mag.

sad for the guys though, good luck lads

This is sad news . As Marty said Ben and Retro ford were very supportive of us over here as well and was always available here.

Internet obviously taking over but like daily papers, read the headlines on iphone at coffee time but still read the hard copy in evening.
Must say I still bought retro ford most months , gave up on CF too much hoodie stuff for me.

Hope Ben & staff get sorted.
