I ended up getting one from Comet at a good price.
I am not sure if you have had one before? They are good but have a couple of niggles on them that I find annoying.
I don't think I could manage without a laptop as well tbh.

TBH, I just wanted one for the portability of it, I have a laptop and a pc but the tablets look much handier. My son has an android tablet and it seems to be fine but I was advised to get an iPad by a really brainy techy geek chap I know - he recons even a second hand iPad will suffice.

I saw you trying to get on the internet with that at AVO day! I wouldn't want to buy something that'll be so worn out as you kept banging it!

I'll stick with my cheap blokes iPad - the batteries never need changing!

My daughters got ipad and my missus got nexus 7 they are as good as each other in my opinion but if you got iphone i would have ipad if not nexus 7

I've got both ipad & iPhone and you will find that once you have them, the laptop will hardly ever get switched on.
Great bit of kit, thinking of getting the ipad mini for the wife.

Exactly the same in our house mate 2 laptops covered in dust now

Apple do do refurbished Ipads. Just type IPAD REFURB on apples website and they will come up. I've bought one of these and you can't tell the difference. Still has a one year warrenty from Apple.
Sometimes Apple has a sale aswell for one day. We bought and apple ipad case for £23. Any other time they are £39.
As said before, they are very good. Apple stuff just works.

I got my Dad one recently from Boots as I recall it was much cheaper then in most of the high street stores

he's well chuffed with it
