Don't ever think there is a British built car that I could ever have as best car for leisure

I think I would consider an XJ-R, S-Type R or similar. Dirt cheap and loads of fun

Had a few "modern Fords" in the last few years. Two Zetec S Fiestas, great little cars, especially the later model with the black top Zetec.
I had an ST170, an excellent Autobahn car, ripping down the motorway at 170-180 kph all day long, no problem.
I currently have a Mk II Focus Sport at the moment, it is thirsty and the torque isn't availalble where needed, i.e. in the mid range. It is much better screwed together than the Mk1 but I miss the handling and the excellent 6-speed Getrag box (and ratios) of the ST...
