Just got back from Driffield after a great night ,it must have been a long time since such an influential group of proven Escort Rally Drivers and co Drivers has been assembled together ,most of which I have the privilege of knowing personally ,Banner,Yuk,Dick Rowland,Mike Nicholson,Pete Smith,Pete Slights all gave interesting interviews with Graham Robson who also was a pleasure to meet for the first time .
Well done to East Yorks RSOC for arranging the event ,tonight the old Rally Brigade far out numbered the Plastic Fantastics
Good to meet some Forum members to .
Roll on the Tour of Hamsterley in two weeks time ,as Banner said it is likely to be the best Rally this year as all the top boys are out ,it will be a tremendous battle between Banner, Nick Elliot, Marty McCormack ,and many other of the uk's top Historic drivers.

I'm not long since back home from the event. I was involved in pulling the event together and really enjoyed the outcome.

So many people to thank who participated and played a part in the discussions. I've watched these guys for years and it was good to hear them open up about there experiences.

Big thanks to Dave Watkins who pulled most of the strings for us to make it what it was. Graham Robson was as always on form and did an excellent job as compare.

Thanks to Richardson Ford for the venue and supporting the East Yorks RSOC.

Maybe we can do this again, who knows?

Thanks on behalf of East Yorks RSOC

I was there, I'm the one that had the 'plastic' lol Mountune Focus RS on display in the back of the showroom.
I probably saw you but don't know who you are
I was meant to take my Mexico as well but had an unfortunate incident with it yesterday so it couldn't make it.
Was a very good & busy evening with old & new mixing nicely, I mean the cars ha!

Sorry I did not get to meet you I did have a look over car very nice and very clean,I was stood most of the night near the door with Banner and his wife ,Dick Rowland etc. it is always difficult at these events to meet other Forum members if you don't know who they and to recognise them
From my earlier post I forgot to mention Dave Watkins who as 1600L says was instrumental in getting most of the big names to attend as nearly all of them Yuk aside , are not too comfortable in front of the Mike
they do or did their talking on the Stages

In the early 80's I was based at Leconfield, there was a guy who had permission to practice/test his Mk2 around the the old airfields at Leconfield & Driffield. If memory serves me right,he only had one arm but could drift that car around at scarey speeds.
                  Does anyone remember him

I think it might have been Mike Jackson, Crystal Ford of Hull Mk2 RS1800.

If my memory serves me right. Somebody from that neck of the woods will put me right.

Yep thats him, Mike 'Bilko' Jackson, very quick Escort driver. He was invited to the Richardson Ford night but was unable to attend, a great shame he like Yuk would have plenty of interesting stories ;-)

Delighted to be with so many happy Ford RS enthusiasts in Driffield last evening.

Delighted, too, to hear how much people enjoyed the interviews - especially of those who are sometimes 'microphone shy'.

Two highlights for me, as the stooge, or feed, were persuading Steve Bannister to be so fluent on air (they say he is notoriously shy ....), and also getting Mike Nicholson to talk to everyone when even Mike didn't realise that he was going to be in attendance until an hour or so before hand.

It was a long way home for me this morning, but I'm not complaining - almost exactly 300 miles, door to door....

Thanks to your interview technique Graham you managed to get Banner to talk on Mike for longer than I can ever recall you were telling me how you had a long drive back to Weymouth which I didn't envy you for ,glad that the Yorkshire Rally fraternity made your visit a pleasant one and hope you will return so you can complete the discussion with some of the more interesting stories from Yuk (even though we have heard them many times over) a bottle of Whiskey would get him well warmed up
