My lad 17 is with Ingienie for a 1.1 2002 Peugot 206 is £2500 pa inc monthly payment plan , he has the car insured in his name and as it has a black box fitted if he drives correctly you get money back , £88.00 so far after 3 months ,cheapest I had without the box was £3900
There are cheaper cars to insure but if you use all your money buying the car it is difficult to afford the insurance. As I stated in a thread a few months ago the penalty for no insurance is not severe enough ,they should mske it affordable and have high fines and prison terms for non insured drivers especially if they have caused n accident

Not a case of it being cheaper for a Classic it is all about the risk of what they run in to not the car they are driving ,I have heard stories of 1.1 Nova's being £5 k to insure ,if you car is only worth £100 it makes no difference.

Actually I would disagree to the above , older cars can be more expensive as parts to repair are more and they generally dont have ABS etc.
My son went from a 1100 fiesta 10 years + old to a 2 year old corsa and it was cheaper. Insurance group and postcode all come into it too.
Both mine with Admiral or one of there subsidiaries ,ie bell ,diamond etc

Andy, put yourself and the Mrs on as "named" drivers, it actually works out cheaper

For classic insurance you also need a daily driver insured to qualify for classic, the young drivers have no chance in this day and age

My son tried to ins his mg zr last year after he passed his test and was quoted 13G So he sold it and got a 09 plate Corsa Sxi 1.4 and got ins for £2000 and that was thro insure the box . As they say it's cheaper to insure a newer car than a older one .
