A nice looking van that. The thing is though, the kudos behind the BL Sherpa (which was designed by an ex-Ford designer – albeit on a budget), was simple, either design a "parts-bin van (bitsa)", using J-Series panels etc, or style it.
The result of the costing studies done at BL at the time presented cash strapped BL with a simple choice, either make the Sherpa as it eventually turned out and spend 1 million on R & D, or style it to compete with the Transit and spend 7 million...

What I'm saying is, the trade off for the fancy interior and exterior is a cart-spring back axle and horrendous bodywork repair costs (parts costs alone) when you scrape it or worse...
