I saw Henry Ford II's RS2000 at Fords Heritage Motor Museum in Dagenham 15 years ago. I was lucky to visit the museum as a 40th birthday present. When I turned up at the museum with my Mk2 RS Mexico, they were very interested to see the car, putting it on display in the car park near to the museums entrance. I even had a tour around the factory when the Fiesta was being built. Sadly, now the factory only builds engines.

There were many iconic Fords from Model T's, Cortina's, Anglia's to then current newish cars Sierra RS Cosworth RS500, Escort Cosworth, RS200 etc. Also on display was the 1970 World Cup Rally winning Mk1 Escort FEV1H...of which our Mk1 Mexicos are named after...including the replica H1FEV Mk1 Escort rally car which won the 25th anniversary World Cup Rally in 1995, Mk2 Escort rally and racing cars with Henry's RS2000 among them. I was told the RS2000 was a special build for Henry Ford II's visit to Dagenham in 1976, I think, and he wanted it in brown, an auto box and leather seats etc installed.

It is well worth a visit to Fords Heritage Motor Museum if you get the chance to go.

                              How true

Carn't be the "brown auto" shurellly

                              Didn't the car also have P A S

Shame on anyone wanting a Mk II with leather seats, brown paint, PAS and an automatic "tranny" (as the Americans call it)

                              Still, each to their own
