    Hello all,

Leading on from another post on here.

With the increasing value of our car's and therefore the increasing attraction from the less than honest amongst the public, I'm seriously thinking of fitting these to some of my cars.

Has anyone got any experience of them and can give a level review?

Are the cheap ones (using sim cards) any good or do you need to be going for the established makes with the yearly charges?

Have considered this myself. Cant remember which one it is but if you pay a lifetime subscription (i.e. 3x annual subs ) it is free there after.

Did quite a bit of research into this.
Tramigo do a T22C for any vehicle. Retail between £200 and £300. All you need to do is buy a pay as you go SIM card, put it in the device, fit it to your vehicle in a discreet place and that's it. No monthly charges or one of fees etc etc.
Two of the main advantages are if it goes missing you can locate it yourself with your mobile then go and pay the thieves a 'visit' or report it to the law.
Also you can set up a 'home zone' and if goes 0.1km outside of that zone it texts you. Obviously if your driving it yourself it still texts you but at least that way you know it's working. Brilliant bit of kit.
      See there web site.

Please please please can I be in the 'Clique'

Does this just text you coordinates or can you track in real time using Google Earth or Google Maps?

That looks good, does the pay as you go card run out even if you dont use it or do they hold the credit long term?

We used to fit them as a supplied part on new excavators and dumpers, however the old type used to shut down 72 hours after the battery was disconnected, which gave the police/tracker firm had time to recover it

Does this type not have a battery back-up?

It only texts you the coordinates and the nearest popular land mark. You can't track it live.

As far as i know credit lasts long term. I haven't topped up my sim card (orange network) since last July and it still works fine. Best to check with whoever you get your sim card from though.

Mine has a battery backup. It's 3 years old so presume all new ones will backup.

                      Thanks for that.
it would be a bit useless without the backup as if the battery was disconnected then there would be no tracking!

Get in with one of your local haulage firms who now all have trackers fitted to all their lorries and you can pinpoint your car exactly as it is done on GPS.
Ive had mine added to a local fleet for very little money!!

Also we found that if they were next to a substation they couldn't be read

I have also been looking into this and was wondering if those cheap ones on fleecebay were any good, I'm impressed by the gps ones with the perimeter settings. Be interesting to see which ones you guys recommend.

If you want it, get it, before someone else beats you to it.
