Yep, money for old rope. I try and pay, and be paid by bank to bank transfer, its free. Only charges then to pay is the monthly account fee. But I suppose its all down to who you bank with.

It does depend which bank your with, they should have written to you to tell you if their terms had changed.

I'm with LLOYDS and they seem ok, whereas SANTANDER you can't even pay cash in over the counter

Banks mate, it's not like they're not making any money

Business customers , to my knowledge have always been charged for paying cash in. I worked for Barclays 88-91, that was about the time they dropped non business customer charges.(Business customers bore the brunt of this) I pay 85p per hundred pound of cash paid in, change is higher still. This is my biggest banking expense. There is a high cost element in the banks handling the cash but your charge seems excessive. Did they pay it in at a different Bank i.e not a branch of your own bank. If so, that could explain the extra charge!

I pay all my cash into my personal account (only used for business only but dont tell the bank that) Then once you have a couple of grand transfer it by my debit card into my business account with my streamline machine at work they charge you 31p per transaction debit card.

The thing that annoys me is its the same lady that counts my money for my business account and my personal account but dont charge me for my personal account got pulled up a while ago about it by the bank and told them to ram it or i will be closing my account and move bank. Been in business now for 16 years got a mortgage with them, cash isas etc etc.

I own and run a business that is 95% cash. We moved from Llyods to Santander and saved over £100 a month in charges.

Yes with Santander you have to pay in via the ATM but in my mind this is great as it means I'm not tied to openning hours.

What is a pig is the Taxation system but I'll save that for another post......
