  • Has anyone had a garage built for their RS?

Me and the girlfriend are looking to buy our first place together, and I was wondering how much it roughly costs to have a garage built?

Ideally, if we bought a house that didn't have a garage and I were to get one built, I'd like to get a double length one so I could fit 2 escorts in there - bumper to bumper so to speak. Or even a double width come to think of it. Nothing fancy, just functional and dry!

Has anyone recently had a garage built that could give me a rough idea as to what sort of costs I'd be looking at?

    Thanks

      Really does vary massively

my missus's mum has just had hers extended by about 7 foot and cost her 6k just for the little extension , i built my own garage sized shed out of blocks and cost me no more than £600

i had my single extended width ways to become a double, the labour was £1100, the materials were approx £1000 and the bloody double width door was £1200, but as i say, this wasnt started from scratch, only an extensh, hope this helps

If you want cavity insulated walls, fully wired, plumbed & plastered, throw in a proper slate roof and a ceiling and the costs just rise.

Otherwise live with damp bare blocks, a bit of felt and an extension lead.

Somewhere in between you'll find your garage. As a guess I would say for a reasonably finished double garage, by a builder, founds and all you'll have to budget for 10K minimum.

Also helps that I had a lot of friends in the trades so I got a lot of cheap or free bits

Had to go to the south of England for it. Looked at ones over here but they were twice the price and **** poor condition.

Drove from my sister's in London to Liverpool, slept in the car and got the worst boat in living memory home. Next time I'll just boot on up to Stranraer!!

Why don't you try a concrete sectional garage?
Mine's 23'x15' and only cost £1400, and they came and erected it too !!
i did the groundwork for the base myself, boarded out and hardcore etc.. then the concrete cost £320.
One thing i did find i should have got was some see thru roof panels, even though i put a load of lights in, it's not kwite the same as daylight !!

                            good luck with it.

mine is roughly 25' square mate, if you do it by the book the council wanted it done cavity wall, bugger that.... i was quoted £8000 by a mates old man to build it, thats with a tiled roof and removal of the trees that was there too. needless to say i couldn't afford that and done it on the drip, with a flat roof - but christ it didn't turn out cheap either
so weigh it all up first mate, thats my advice
