Well, after reading the thread from start to finish I think I've sussed what the problem is ... It is 'the scene'!

'The scene' seems to be some idealistic dream that everyone will build a nice cheap car with lots of bits donated by other friendly owners, get it on the road, go to all the shows, heap masses of praise on all other attendees cars, have a jolly old time, a few bevvies and a good laugh... And just because that doesn't happen anymore (if it ever did!), then 'the scene' is shite!

Well, look at posts from (and talk to) new arrivals on the 'Escort scene' and you'll find that they, to a man, love it. It's everything they want; they get pleasure from their cars, enjoy driving them and love walking around shows making new friends.

Then they either bump into someone from 'the scene' or come on here and read all about how good 'the scene' used to be and how poor it is now and they probably think, who are all these moaning gits and just what is their problem?

The truth is, it's basically down to the people you surround yourselves with. If you're out with your mates having a good time then it's great but moaning about the days of yore when petrol was five bob a gallon and everyone was best friends is pointless cos it's just not like that.

I think Tony Mac nailed it, if you're not blowing smoke up folks' arses then you're not in ‘the gang’ and you soon find out that ‘the scene’ is not as friendly as some people like to make out.

For me, people who own these cars should do with them what they wish. If they want to build them and put them in a bubble, or buy them and polish them to within an inch of their lives, or trailer them everywhere, or drive the wheels off them, or even throw them through the forest, that’s fair enough – it’s their car and their choice.

                          Happy New Year!

Ches,Nowt wrong with an opinion on any car, but sarcastic comments wind me up, for example , first lakes I did with my car, some local knob chatting the wife up then comments that pinstripe is too high on the car and n/s wing isn't original, well actually you knob, n/s wing is original, there's the date stamp, it's the o/s that's not original....
Tell me, where's your car then,,, errr it's at home . Needs a few bits doin to it , well fcuk off n get em done then ..
Yes I know there will always be the know it alls who know bugger all .. Point is that if your car isn't 100% accurate n mint then it will attract idiots like above.
Anyone should be able to show any car , whatever it's model, condition, modifications.. Without fear of the purists pointing out what's right n what's wrong.
I have met some great lads off this site and had some bloodys laughs too, which for me makes a show.. .
Live to regret ..or regret to live.
