maybe numbers are down because people rip other peoples cars to shreds
snipe behind folks back etc so they just dont bother going to shows etc.

not saying this is the only thing but it does not help things.

I look at the cars for what they are no matter condition and enjoy seeing them around.

Best show for me last year by Far was the Northern Ireland Portrush show and this will get bigger.

hope it gets better next year

    as previous posts above think.

cash is a big factor too.

    Cheers
    Dave

Theres no difference ive noticed at all in the scene as its still solid in the circles im in and its got stronger if anything.
The lakes tour last year was an eye opener for me as there were so many new faces and that i found quite refreshing from the unchatty groups of the previous years. So chesney if your talking about your scene or the general one then i suggest getting out more and making new friends because its buzzin.

I hope we all love our cars for what they mean to us, personally.
If there were no clubs, car shows or Ford internet forums I know what would be still sat in the garage.
Let us all get our cars out and about this coming summer, be it a Sunday drive or meet up for tea and scones, motor sport event, classic car show, etc.
It is always good to show them off and educate people in the way of the Ford! or remind people who used to own a sporting Ford in the day.
            Regards,
            Mark.

I'm sure there are many other venues like the Coombe where track and display can be combined.

There are many venues like Combe Mark and most of them do hold events with static and track, combe alone has a handful of type of events ie spring action day,rs show, rally day, autumn action day.

You don't get it do you ?? It's not all about you and your cars, your pensions and retirement funds, how many cars you have and how good they are, blowing smoke up each others arses about how much your car is worth.

The fact is the majority of folk who go to the shows, are skint, laid off, redundant, regular working class people who now may be alienated by the fact that Escorts have been over inflated into Porsche+ territory and can't afford the car in the first place or the £100+ (family)for a Sunday afternoon out at a show

When the economy bites, these shows/clubs who are'nt what they used to be are the first to be cut

I bet the majority off here with the "top cars" are'nt feeling the pinch ???

Escorts are'nt a working class mans hobby any more.

Some very constructive replys guys keep em coming its nice to see peoples thoughts. I'm sure different people have different reasons for not coming and Tony you have covered a good majority of them.
Money does seem to be a massive factor for most and the rising cost of buying/owning an escort is becoming plain daft.

Maybe a few more local/regional ride outs could be organised thereby using the cars at the same time. I havent got loads of cash to spend on attending every show but the ones I go to need to be worthwhile else you become disillusioned and think why bother.

Even the crack/banter is dissapearing compared to how it was a few years back and I know times change etc etc but when times are hard its the laugh etc that gets people through.

SPOT ON, it costs to go to work child care now we will lose child benifit due to joint income, no bonus paid company cut backs. never been so skint, so i have a nice car i can not afford to run, whats the point. and 2013 is not going to get better. every one has got cut backs, and the cars are becoming a luxury not every one can have. every one i have spoken to is saying the same. car shows are becoming expensive, thats why the banters gone, its doom and gloom.
Old escorts, better than a pension plan.
