I bored them to death for about an hour. They told me some awful stories about the re-shell & it's chequered history. His son also had a serious crash in it.
He told me the car was used in all weathers and was never driven below 70mph. The only modification he made to the car was to fit RS2000 stripes to it. He still has the original logbook in a draw at home. The rear window sticker which, like a tw*t I was going to replace, was his & his brothers garage but he couldn't believe it was still in place after an attempted theft left the glass in bits.
The registration is his initials which sounds like pure fantasy. I let him pick holes in the car and he confirmed everything was a total replica. It was horrible to meet him & his son. I felt a complete idiot.
    ahhhhhh .............. poor Kev

That's a great experience for you Kev! It's a great feeling linking up your car with the first owner. I was able to do this a few years ago with mine. It was a great time for me and great for the first owner, the things he told me just pieced the car's history together, with some interesting little stories. I have kept in touch with him!

Did you ask him if he has any pictures of his car during the time in his ownership? I got some of mine and they are fantastic to have.

Great story. Surely he must have done a bit of bulling in it tho. It's the reason everyone buys an RS, is to use it to crawl around picking up chicks you normally wouldn't have a chance with.

The front seat should have enough stains to keep CSI going for a month.

Make sure and ask him about that piece of history LOL.
