normal story, says he has parts, you send payment in good will, cashes cheq etc, says its on a carrier, nothing arrives, says carrier has has a accident and part damaged, will refund you, cheq arrives after 2-3 calls, but bounces !! then you have to get shirtie !
we dont need this type of person involved in motorsport !

As I have said if someone is willing to state the story and name outright the person concerned and is willing to stand by any repurcussions then carry on

What I will not allow is snide comments hinting at any perpetraitor - if you gonna name em then name em do not hide behind a keyboard

Unfortunately, the chap I share my unit with has had first hand exposure to Mr Owens.

He did list his address last at Silverstone and apparently was working for a race team that was selling up some old stock ( I won't mention their name as they knew nothing about it and helped resolved)

He took pictures around the unit and then advertised them. He first tempted John in by a set of Dunlop tracking guages and when John found out that he had "other" stuff available at very reasonable prices, the wish list went up. He was in for some very serious mone (around £800 me think's) when he smelt a rat.

He did a bit of searching around and found his name had popped up before as problematic at another place, John then contacted the company direct (John has raced Formula fords for a very long time and with great success so had some contacts).

Lets just say that this chap was then no longing in a job at the race team and his wages were sent direct to John to repay him the loss. The team wanted all the evidence and were taking matter's in there own hands as they wanted to keep a lid on it.

Seem's to me this chap has moved on the pastures new but the scam is just the same.

I'm not saying we should name and shame all, but this is beginning to become a habit for this individual and maybe it's the only option.

Maybe this aproach mentioned above may help others....racing and rallying is a small world and it's amazing who you can get to speak too.

First of all this is not blowing smoke up rs2000 customs arse..I have never met or spoken to him..from my time on here he appears incredibly fair and tolerant compared to the way other forums are moderated..I think he has the balance just about right and long may it continue.We all know what a great resource this place is,long may it continue.
