The old timers will remember Paul Corkhill from Blackpool, he offered me a matching numbers RS1800 for £3500 in 1990, turned it down ....

Around the same time a local lad was selling a nice Harrier, he wanted £500 for it, I offered him £200 for the fishnets to go in my RS2 and told him he could keep the car.

I also was offered a one owner vista mk1 RS2000, still had the plastic on the back seat, couldn't get my hands on £2800 to buy it so the old guy traded it in to the local ford dealers for a Sierra or something, one of the mechanics snapped it up

Deffo the early 90's was the time to buy

Early 90's when most people were going to Cosworths models (me included).

      You couldn't give away a Mk2 then
      Cheers

I bought several AVO Mk1 escorts from 1989- 1991 mainly Mexico's and RS 2000's as cheap as 400 Pounds and one big wing AVO rolling shell for 500 Pounds which turned out to be an RS1600, which I sold to a friend before I left for the States. On reflection I wish I had kept them in storage a while longer, I would have shipped them over here and restored them.

I'd say that over here the early 80's were a low point, bought my RS1600 as a complete car less engine for £180, bought a stripped Mk1 Mexico with ID for £20 then bought it's original engine for another £15, I bought another part stripped Mexico for £80 - I now rally this one, I bought my Twin Cam less engine for £100, bought two all steel BDAs in bits plus spares for real big money - £1000. Bought a Twin Cam engine for £250, bought another Twin Cam engine in bits for £20 and was given another for the taking away. I could list quite a few bits and pieces and quite a few non AVO cars from £125 up - and the best bit is I still own all of them, I've never sold a Mk1 car of any type.

          All the best, Neil.

I sold my v reg custom in 1996 For £500
It was original, standard and in need of a little tidying but in today's market it would've still been a £7k car

Car in my pic I bought in 88 for £6250. Full spec Grp4 car. 2ltr BDG, race ZF, Fully floater and loads of spares including about 20 mag minilites. 1yr later I bought another Grp 4 car as a rolling shell for £4,500 and then a couple of months after I bought the fully rebuilt 2ltr BDG out of it for £2,000. My road going RS1600 with alloy block I bought for £900 and sold it for £1,140 back in about 79 /80.
