i always chuckle to my self when i remember the Finns moaning the long road sections and stage mileage AND they had to drive in the dark !!!!! ............. then TV said a more compact route was more TV friendly ......... guess what, within 10 years, no TV company wants to touch it and manufacturers are even more on the decline ??????????????

Remember following it around the UK sleeping in my Escorts and cooking bacon on the exhaust manifold in the mornings. Was great back then in then.
