    a real shame

in most of these cases its not the pipes that are at fault but the brass ferrules that fit into the carbs/pumps sometimes falling out due to overtightening the jubilee clip, my brother nearly lost his RS3100 to this and we have seen numerous ohc cortinas go up in smoke as fuel spils out onto the distributor untill the engine cuts out after the fuel in the float chamber has been used up and the engine finally cuts out !

i wire the jubilee clip to the carb body not pretty but effective

a small extingusher will not put out a petrol fire, on a classic rally we had a bmw2002 finish a test with fire coming out of the grille we emptied at least 3 small handheld extingushers onto it , it wasn't till a marshall arrived with a full size jobbie that it got put out, that was due to the brass pipe falling out luckily the car was saved

also fitting electric pumps when they are not needed is another **** boiler for me !

    andyb
