Here's mine if it's of any use

    1.3 L registered in April '77

Not sure what shade of yellow it was originally, but I would interested to find out what you can decipher from the plate

      Great use - thank you.

It tallies with a 1.3L two-door built in March 1977, with fixed driver's door mirror, heated rear windscreen and alternator, hazard warning lights and reversing lamps.

Haven't seen the G on the bottom line before. The car doesn't/didn't have an unusual-coloured interior, did it?

Can also see the plate's never been off the car - unusual to see that tab under the left-hand rivet.

My car was pretty much as you describe, before I butchered it

It had a black cloth interior, can't think of any other oddities that could have accounted for the extra letter.

Yes the plate looked like it had never been off, and still hasn't, but it has been painted now

Cloth interior on an L? That could be it. Cheers.

I'm guessing it had drum brakes on the front and no servo? No overriders, radio or brake test switch?

          What's it look like now?

It was a long time ago now, but I'm pretty sure it had discs with no servo. The rest is correct

            Here it is now

Ah yes, of course - the discs were standard on the 1300cc but the servo was optional.

Looks VERY nice now. Love the yellow.

I had a 77 MK2 1.3 L first time round. It had black beta cloth seats but no headrests as standard.

Ah yes, you're right - the L was upgraded from vinyl to cloth around September 1976. Thought it was a bit later than that.

Hmm, wonder what that G is for...

                        Aargh, that's a shame. I sent you an explanation of the Halewood code. In brief, a UK four-door chassis number is B=Great Britain, B=Halewood, A=Escort, F=four-door. (In contrast, a German two-door is G=Germany, C=Saarlouis, A=Escort, T=two-door.)

Harriers are all BBAT but Sports could be British or German two-door or four-door...

                        What's yours?

I was thinking you were on about the actual white printed build sheet that was fastened into the nearside rear window,of cars on the production line .This build sheet had all details of what was needed on that particular car.And I have one in my books and stuff upstairs from one of my many new Mark 2 escorts, that I have had for my driving school cars(5)

Yes - it sounds like that's the one.

Never seen one of the build sheets - are you able to photograph it or scan it? Please...
