This last picture sent to me by Ian I think is the most interesting one I have come across so far.I was told that when the rs1700t went to SA it had to be altered to look more like a standard escort than the real thing,this SA spec car is at boreham in the back ground you can see rs200 bodywork,so it would have to be after the 17t had been cancelled and gone out to SA ?.At first I thought it might have been a reshelled wvw101w,but this is a LHD car going by the windscreen wipers .conspiracy theory May be wvw101w had been reshelled into a LHD shell?the old p7 was a short wheel base RHD spec car. LWB spec was late 1982 and there were only two RHD LWB cars made after that p15 and p18,could it be possible that p10 when it came back from Portugal was reshelled into p16,when it tested later in the year in Wales its weight was now 1089kg and now had 47per cent front 52.4 rear compared to 57.7 to 47.3 Aka LWB shell,then may be p7 reshelled into p17 then what really was scrapped was the no use old out of date spec development cars .The single round head light and long grill,I have only ever seen once before,I wonder if this is the american escort as this picture still has the uk fuel filler neck and would explaine why the boot fire wall is different to p18
