Dangers of angle grinders

Just come out of hospital due to a badly infected knee where I spent 5 days on an IV drip.



X-rays showed a strand of wire embedded in there and I believe this came from using a wire cup brush on the end of an angle grinder. I can remember picking out strands from my clothes after using it a couple of weeks ago.

I once had an angle grinder accident I was 18, took guard off to get in at a job, it kicked back and hit my knuckle ! (whince)
It went straight through to bone nice and clean cut for second or so till blood started to squirt out.

Luckily the old man was there and had some kind words to say....

Yep, anthing with rotating parts, bench grinders etc. I learnt that over the years in the trade. Fortunately the worst I had was arc-eye once. It's always best to wear safety gear, i.e. goggles, overalls etc.

A mate of mine got a flake of metal fly off a grinder and into his eye, stayed in the out patients for hours and said "I'll come back tomorrow", the nurse said if you leave now you'll loose the sight in that eye

Mate of mine had a kick back from one and cut from the centr of his bottom lip down to his adams apple.

We were sympathetic and since then he's been known as 'Chinny'

At one time i was on the christmas card list at our hospitals eye unit!
I used to get metal in my eye most weeks(bit more sensible now)

Absolute must for a video. The whole top of that bad boy is goin to blow.
Don't let them drain it out with a syringe or anything girlie like that. Just a big massive squeeze, then boom!
