get there early (just after 7am) then grab a bacon roll! or you will be queing to get in, take the sun cream as there is NO SHADE take a brolly as there is NO COVER. use the tractor to get up the hill to watch the rally stages put decent walking shoes on.

Don't arrive via the A27 or you will risk a long que. I come in thro lavant or singleton from the north. It'll be a trek from the car park what ever! Sturdy boots no flip flops!! Once in I'd head right to the top to the rally stage whilst it's still cool and all the other bums are getting distracted by the paddock displays lol. Spend the rest of the day slowly coming back down the hill thro the paddocks etc. if you leg it all over like a kid in a candy store you won't last the day it's a lot of walkin LoL

Normally I commentate on the rally stage, in harness with Tony Mason, but for 2012 Skoda are picking up the bills, and have insisted on nominating a eurosport person who apparently doesn't know much about historic motorsport, which means that I have been ousted.

If then, my old chum Tony Mason seems to be under pressure for some of the three days, you will perhaps understand ....

If the Red Arrows are displaying again make sure you are standing in front of the house facing the Lotus display when the Arrows enter.

Have your camera ready as they come in over the house streaming red white and blue smoke - a fantastic sight - which I missed
