theres nothing wrong with an xe
all the die hards on here think that you can only use the cosworth engine that was made by Ford lol but it was not made in house so the early xe has the coscast head and is from the same company and a fraction of the cost
there are plenty of rally boys using them so they cant be that bad

Que the clique to come in and slate me lol
16v pintos are pants, keep them in transit vans

A Ford Cosworth engine is a FORD 16v PINTO engine that fits in an Escort with standard Ford parts . An XE is a Vauxhall engine that don't fit with standard Ford parts . Simple as that .

I like engines so i know that zetecs aren't good engines . They are the worst engine too base a high performance motor on and that's why nobody with one has got one , lol .

Yes , especially as there's no such thing as a well sorted zetec !!! Even if you change every single bit inside one it would have be cheaper to use a proper engine in the 1st place that fitted .

Nothing wrong with the zetecs and duratecs mate, I've got a xflow in my Mexico but a duratec 170 would be good. Great power and reliability straight out the box. Won't ever be worth as much as an original but who cares as long as you have what you want and enjoy it. that's what it's all about!

S2000 engine sounds good on paper but the 220bhp 130ibls/ft (dyno-dynamics) they give is very peaky . So unless the cars very light and flat out all the time (trackday etc) then it's not that good . Also it's tall and heavy and don't fit without expensive mods so it's £2000 when sitting on the floor but alot more by the time it's driving an Escort . Better than Duratecs and Zetecs though as at least the insides aren't made of chocolate .

These are just zetecs with bigger valves , variable valve timing and some slighter stronger internals . Better than the other zetecs but it still has the same problems . These do 155bhp (dyno-dynamics) and are quite popular in escorts but as yet we've never seen a fast one . Leave these for Anglias etc as they are nice in those but Escorts have far better choices .

Don't be so nasty Louie. You've got to be a highly skilled operative to..........

                              1.Look straight ahead
                              2.Dip clutch select gear
3.Plant right foot into the carpet
4.Wait for lights to change colour
                              5.Lift left leg
6.Drive along flat straight stretch of tarmac.

Makes driving through the trees or round a track look positively boring!
