    Lakes Tour 2012

    With less than a few days to go, thought I had better put some info together for you all. I have eaten, slept and breathed the Lakes Tour for about two months now and it’s not getting any easier, even now, in its seventh year. Hopefully you are all ready for next weekend; the format for the weekend is much the same as previous Lakes Tours, but I have a few issues that I would like to make you aware of. I know I do harp on about the driving but I do feel that somebody has to as some still think it’s a rally - IT’S NOT!! So please be aware as you drive up the motorway and on the tour that the police are aware that the event is taking place; they only have to look at the site as all the info is there in black and white - please watch what you are doing and think about what you are doing. The speed limit in the hotel grounds is 3mph. The tour is 110 miles approximately; there will be no coffee halt as I cannot find a big enough car park for you all!! But there are fuel stops and places for you to stop at marked on the road book.
    As you will see on the RSE site we are having the charity auction on your return to the hotel. The Lakes Tour raffle will also take place, along with the award presentation.
    THE LAKES TOUR IS A NON SPECTATOR EVENT {not open to the genral public}

                      And I'd love to hear some of the conspiracy theories, and hope to be able to demolish some of them ?

                      In some cases, though, it won't be easy ? Example - an Escort caught testing for the 1970 World Cup Rally, complete with the WCR roll cage, and with Roger Clark's competition number stickers in place - but it wasn't that car, and it carried a different competition number. Oh yes, and only weeks later the 'same' car re-appeared on the 1970 Acropolis rally, without the WCR cage ....

                      There's a lot more of that to explain.

                        Sorry, I should have written 'different registration number' ....
