  • The peter lloyd experience

Two weeks ago, i placed and order with PLR who ive delt with many times,

On there ebay site it quiet clearly states 215/50 13 tyres at £65

so i phone up and order 2 tyres and an 8 x13 minilite.

The girl on the phone says, these tyres are £75 ea and the alloy is £105 plus £15 delivery, all in stock

Hang on i said , the advert on ebay says £65, to which she says it does not, its been removed. so i pays the money and she says ill ring you back in 15mins, to which i said why....... she says because the alloy is not in stock..

The abay add still said £65 and had not been removed.

EEEH You have just took my money in one hand telling me all in stock and then says out of stock on alloy.

So i agreed to let her call me back, "sorry" the alloys going to be a week from the supplier, can i offer you a minilite copy instead, to which i replied no thanks ill have what i ordered please.

week goes by, phones up, is my alloy for the chevette in?

Answer, no but it will be with you this week, when? was my relpy, "this week " was the answer.

    Did it come? no

phones up peter lloyd this morning, wheres my alloy for the chevette, we aint got chevette down here on the order, she says. you are joking was my watered down reply, even though my invoice clearly states this.

leave it with me, ill phone the supplier and see if they can send one out, the shipment is being sent today. and ill phone you back in half n hour.
( so it wasnt coming last week)

one hour and 15 mins later, i phone back, its about my chevette alloy, oh ye, we have one in stock ill send it out,

in stock!!!!!!! ive only been waiting a fortnight totally ferkin useless

          Service industry innit guv...
You pay peanuts and you get monkeys...
I have to say, I haven't as yet had issues with PLR, I even asked a question via the Bay and had an answer form the man himself... at 10 o-clock at night

As regards this sort of thing happening, what truly peed me off once was Burtons, although subsequently they seem to have taken some of my suggestions on board. I ordered some rear Billies, they didn't arrive within a sensible period, so I queried this and was told they are on "back order", they'll be another 6 weeks or so .
So I contacted them saying, well, one: wouldn't it be nice to inform customers about these items being on "back order" (odd as other companies had them freely available) before customers place an order. Two, wouldn't it also make sense to use parcel tracking facilities – that all competent couriers have – to let the customer know if and when their parcel has been dispatched?

I also had one-hell-of -a -job to get a problem sorted out once (@ Burtons) regarding some parts that went MIA, with having to e-mail several different people etc. Things will go wrong but it seems many of these companies do not approach these problems from the customer's perspective, also it should be very hard for errors like the above to happen (recur) if a company has proper ISO certification, i.e. proper structures for complaints, ordering, web commerce etc etc.

By the way, stephenh, I would always document the price, i.e. screenshot the web page, before saying "it says so on your web site"; that way you can e-mail them "evidence" to the contrary should they they deny your version of events

to be fair, this is the only time ive had an issue with them, ive had lots of tyres, alloys and components of them, never an issue and always next day.

This just feels like a mockery, of taking an order, reading or processing it wrong and giving false info out.

waiting 2weeks for something, to be told its in stock, is not good customer service.neither is advertising something stating a price and then telling the customer they are wrong about it.

Maybe its a glitch, but ive spent a fair whack with them and will be reluctant to deal with them again.

I think though, you will want something and it will be ridiculously more expensive somewhere else or you will have a problem with other companies. There aren't enough companies selling this gear to provide sensible competition.

The other thing is though, as I said, I cannot understand how companies like this cannot manage the ordering and contact processes. I also do not understand how, these days, that all orders, including all comments and contact with a customer cannot be stored in a central database/software.

There are so many ways of managing these processes, it encourages people to spend money if they enjoy their experience. It does tend to make you to think though, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys...

Either these companies don't take criticism seriously, i.e. change their methods of operation or they just employ "idiots" that don't care.
Most of the time we get what we want but often items come poorly packed or late or whatever...

They should possibly ask their customers what they think about the service

natalie is dealing with it, but the girl who took the order, apparently does not work there now, what annoys me is, they thought they had put the phone on hold, or put there hand over the mic, i heard him say weve wasted enough time and money on this, refund him and tell him to go else where.
