that was a publicity stunt, but my 'second' car had a history like it! The local baker was going bankrupt and, to avoid the car being grabbed (it was in the company's name) he 'hid' the car at the girlfriend's house and got her to put the log book in her safe with the keys for when the liquidator came. The girlfriend's husband then found out about their affair. In Germany, if you've got the car and the log book, then you are the owner -no matter what name is entered on the logbook.
Hubby kicked out the interloper and kept the car!

We have a car like that, divorce settlement and the car had to be sold. The bloke did not care about the price as the money was going to her but he wanted it to go to a good home. Which it did, and a full mech rehaul and 10 years later it is better than ever.
