I hear what you're both saying but I'm afraid for me it has to be workable / useable. Lets face it it's hardly what you'd call an Original Mexico now is it

In a fast street car you need a slipper or else one wheel will spin up and you'll go nowhere . You have the choice of an ATB geared diff or LSD plate diff . The ATB is silent so ideal for a road car and it requires no setting up or expensive oil . They are also maintence free .
The plate LSD is noisey and harsh in comparison and more suited to rally cars which get airbourne and run on 3 wheels etc . They also need setting up and expensive oil , rebuilds etc etc . If you like going clonk , bang , clonk allday whilst out for a drive then they are fine , lol .

I've had a word with Fostek & they say that they can adjust / move the plates around so that it's no where near as noisy So this will be my first option before forking out for a New Diff

I see what you mean, but firstly, when you're driving somewhere when it's dark, it is rather nice to be able to see how fast you're going, how much fuel you have etc etc.
The LED solution also means that there is less current draw, thus and dodgy connections on the rear of the dash are less likely to cause suddenly loss of illumination!

Also, we know how annoying/dangerous it is to have the wipers or lights temporarily pack up on the MkII, I would have thought any solution (new or old) is welcome in that case!

Most people have had the headlights/wipers pack up while on the go in a MkII, it ain't funny.

Get the dash bulbs fitted properly and then you can see the dash at night . Puff daddy LED's are no better and will look naff . Bulbs for the win .

Just enjoy the car for what it is, and don't try to make it modern, otherwise why buy it?? It isn't like you will be driving it every night will you?
You are too use to modern stuff Leon.!
Enjoy it at the lakes, then you can sell it then.

The only thing that needs modernising on them is swopping the carbs and dizzy for full engine management . Apart from that they are fine although 1970's rust proofing wasn't up to much so improving that is a good idea .
