  • Night Driving in RRR :)

Went to the local meet last night in RRR
Bet it's the 1st time it's ever been driven in the Dark
The headlights weren't as bad as I'd imagined but think I'll still change the bulbs for some Brighter ones. It's the Dials that you can't see Must Change the Dash Bulbs for some Brighter ones. Can anyone recommend any & where to get them from?
    By eck does it shift
And the Noise Guess the neighbours weren't too happy when I got back in at 11.30

Just need a few things that need fettling before I'm completely happy
There's a weird dead spot with the Steering, it seems to turn immediately left but then when you go to the right you seem to have to go through a proportion of 'slack' before anything happens
Think I'll also get it Laser Tracked to make sure it's all going in the right direction
And that Diff , not sure what to do with it yet but I've been warned away from an ATB one so I'll have to weigh up other options
It also needs a complete Nut & Bolt Check just to be sure alls ok

All in I think this could actually be my 'thing'

    Roll on the Lakes

Tracking sounds out as Escorts have great steering .
ATB diffs are the best for road cars so whoever says different is talking shite , lol .
Nuts and bolts will fall out so paint the threads , use nylocs , use lock wire , use locktight , etc etc . Even the sump will fall off eventually so check the lot !!!
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

Use LEDs, green I think, remove the blue shrouds though.

Sounds like the rack or top mounts, possibly the bottom arm(s) ball joint(s). Could even be one of the top mounts loose and the other tight????

dash lighting is nothing like as good as a modern car, theres little blue caps around the bulbs, years ago a mate took those out and made it a lot better at night, or just use your satnav or phone speedo app

With the LEDs fitted (not too bright mind) the dash lighting is brilliant.
Arguably the dials aren't backlit but it is better by miles than the standard bulb/shroud setup.

I guess you're always going to get differing opinions on what's good & what's not
Why would you say that they are the best then?
Yep I think from what you're saying the Nut & Bolt check is my Top Priority

Thanks for the advice I will look into the LEDs
Again sounds like the Nut & Bolt check is my 1st thing to do!
I aim to enjoy it very much. Maybe it was a Trailer Queen but it ain't any more

Sounds like LEDs are the way to go
Satnav's an idea but would really like the dash to be more visible at night.

In a fast street car you need a slipper or else one wheel will spin up and you'll go nowhere . You have the choice of an ATB geared diff or LSD plate diff . The ATB is silent so ideal for a road car and it requires no setting up or expensive oil . They are also maintence free .
The plate LSD is noisey and harsh in comparison and more suited to rally cars which get airbourne and run on 3 wheels etc . They also need setting up and expensive oil , rebuilds etc etc . If you like going clonk , bang , clonk allday whilst out for a drive then they are fine , lol .

Catch youself on. Don't buy an old school and put in LEDs.
Why buy an old school an make it modern.
