  • BOREHAM - should I republish ?

Unhappily Haynes don't think they can make a business case for re-printing my BOREHAM book.

Later today, I will be discussing an alternative way of getting the book back into print.

Opinions, please, guys - would it be worth the effort ?

            It already appears to be
How much did it cost in the first place?

To answer Graham's question, I'm really surprised at Haynes' decision, unless it was a really expensive book to produce in the first place

This attitude seems very reminiscent of Ford's attitude to the rear-wheel drive Escorts. Not interested in remanufacturing parts or panels When there are plenty of companies are making quite a bit of money from these cars.

I would have thought this book would sell, especially as the generation that grew up being driven around in these cars and and seeing them on TV is a big market.

It's difficult to know what amounts of capital are tied up in such a run of books but I'm sure a publisher would, at the very least, recoup the outlay.

I have had 5 books published and I am getting another printed soon. No nothing to do with cars. That does not matter though as a books a book, and the printing process is the same. I am talking to a new printer. If you need any help email. You need to find a good printer and self finance the project. That way you will have autonomy.

Hopefully not using Haynes may be better.

My Dad recently bought a new release of the workshop manual for his series 3 landrover.

Taking the engine out pretty much reads "lift bonnet, recognise the engine, close bonnet, take it to Land Rover garage"

It dosent even have tire pressures in it!! Not bad for £17.00

So going off that it woud read:

Chapter 1 : The comp department opened
Chapter 2 : They ran a few cars
                  Chapter 3 : it closed.

And then it would have a lovely colour page with other books with no specific content you could buy. Maybe even the spark plug colour chart for good measure.

P.s. My Dad got a old copy from a car boot sale for £2.00, miles better.

                    yes graham you should.

I've got everything else you've written on Ford and Cosworth so whats one more addition the collection.

BTW I like the ZAKspeed Book Idea.

I know you Poms don't like the Germans or the french for that matter but it would be good to see something in English about Ford Racing on the continent. I've seen one or two really good books in German which I can't read.

                      Looks a bit pricey.

Perhaps you could get it printed and knock them out for £75 a piece
