Number plates

Just looking at the great photos in the picture section and have notice some MK1s with number plates on the bonnet.
I know they should be forward facing for MOT. I had to fit another on mine for MOT in the normal position. I was also told I could not compete if there was any road sections with the plate on the bonnet.

Mine is a G reg Mk1...always been on the bonnet since I built it...3 MOT's ago

Didn't some of the e type jags have them from new?

there seems to be a bit of a grey area on whether it is legal to fit a new stick-on number plate on a car that was first registered before 2001

I have number on bonnet which has passed MOT 3 times but also have front square one to keep some scrutineers happy !!
